A Prescription for Happiness?

Can a doctor write a prescription for happiness? Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Amit Sood thinks so. In fact, he made a quirky 4 minute cartoon to explain how we can retrain our brain to be “happier.” In this charming cartoon, Broody the Brain heads to school with his friend to learn how to overcome self-doubt and fear. Based on neuroscience research, the simple strategies and message explain how the “pursuit of gratitude and compassion” will make you happier than the “pursuit of happiness” itself. My favorite part of the cartoon (other than the fact it was narrated by Dr. Sood’s daughter) is this idea in practicing compassion for others:

 

“Start with the one a breath a way, in this moment, now, today.”
